Summary

SUMMARY

The Soviet Union was a country with little concern for human rights and deliberately and systematically violated them. The system itself is now in the past, but knowledge and safeguarding human rights remains of great significance today to keep the abuses of the past from ever repeating. The Soviet system left profound effects on the land and Estonian people and practically every family – the parents and grandparents of today’s younger Estonians. The legacy thus continues to have an influence on the present day. Our mission is to keep such crimes from happening again and to contribute to improving the situation in the various countries of the world that currently do not respect human rights.
